Mr Carder, whose letter was entitled, "Ask the students to decide Falmer site" (December 7), appears more than a little confused.

While, on one hand, he claims most people in the area seem to support Portsmouth rather than Brighton, he then claims Brighton and Hove city councillors are in fear of being voted out by Brighton supporters.

So are there thousands of secret Brighton supporters waiting to wield their voting axes, or are there more Portsmouth supporters in the area?

Mr Carder wants Brighton University students to vote on the site in the belief they are mostly Green Party voters. But he is not as keen to accept the previous votes which were in favour of the stadium.

Which selected voting system would Mr Carder prefer to use?

The three MPs may have "only" obtained between 35 and 39 percent of the vote but they were the returned MPs, therefore they do speak for their constituents.

Just because Mr Carder doesn't like the message, doesn't mean he should advocate another system.

If Mr Carder has evidence of "intimidatory tactics" by Brighton fans, he should pass the details to the police.

The only abusive language I have encountered so far was on petition night in Lewes - from opponents of the new stadium.

The only "fact" Mr Carder and his supporters should admit to is their fear the value of their post codes may be affected.
