A schools's environmental efforts can be seen on television today.

Dorothy Stringer is featured in the programme Going Green, which will show its projects to promote and teach environmental issues to pupils and the wider community.

Film-makers from Teachers TV visited the school in Loder Road, Brighton, in September.

They compared Dorothy Stringer, built 50 years ago, with a school which was recently purpose built with environmental issues at the heart of its design.

Dorothy Stringer's environment focus has emerged over the past ten years, with the development of three habitats on its site - woodland, pond and grassland.

Its Brian Foster Environment Centre is a base for pupils to learn more about the local environment. Regular trips to the South Downs are organised for pupils to experience the natural world and man's impact on it.

Environmental co-ordinator Dr Dan Danahar said:

"We want to inspire them and make them aware of the wonder of the world so they understand why it is so important to recycle and protect the environment."

The programme, part of the Inspirations series, is on at noon and 6pm on NTL, Sky, Telewest and Freeview.
