I was interested to read that the lady who fraudulently claimed benefits for several years to the sum of £352,342 was treated in such a tolerant and understanding manner by the courts, receiving a mere two-year suspended sentence (The Argus, December 10).
However, if you are a pensioner on a fixed income, prepare to go to jail if you don't cough up the full amount of your over-inflated council tax bill.
