I happen to agree with Brighton and Hove City Council's decision to throw out the park-and-ride scheme.
Firstly, putting cars before homes is not on.
The council should have had the foresight to build the car park underneath the playing fields. The cost could be recovered by a congestion charge.
Secondly, the council assumes all visitors would enter the city via A23/A27, which is not the case as there are many other ways, so looking for additional sites in the east and west should also have been a priority.
Thirdly, people should realise in this day and age you can't just jump in your car to go anywhere you please because you have always done so.
Brighton has excellent public transport links all over the county so with a bit of thought and planning, using the car should no longer be first option.
Incidentally, I am a car owner and a bus and train user.
