Having read your article on the closure of London Road Methodist Church in Brighton (The Argus, December 23), I feel I must put the record straight concerning the activities of this Church.

The Brighton, Hove and District Battalion of The Boys' Brigade have been tenants of this church for 17 years.

Over that time it has been in use as our local depot, for training and as our office. Today we continue to have our office there along with various meetings.

Six years ago, the Brighton and Hove Town Mission found themselves homeless, having been evicted from their site in Brighton, but as an act of true Christian kindness, we invited the Mission to share our facilities.

It is ironic, then, that as the Brighton and Hove City Mission have found themselves another temporary building to continue their work in the Brighton, Hove and District Battalion of The Boys' Brigade now find themselves homeless.

In the New Year we will be opening negotiations for a new base for our headquarters.

If that fails, come April, it will be us who will become homeless and without a headquarters to continue our important work with the youth of the Brighton and Hove area.
