Haywards Heath have suffered a double front row blow ahead of their most high-profile game of the season.

Heath host Truro in the last 16 of the national Powergen Intermediate Vase a week tomorrow.

But their preparations, which continue in tomorrow's home league game against Old Albanian, have been hit by the departure of two experienced props.

Former Bath man Stuart Meddick has joined Pontypool but perhaps even more serious, given his recent contributions, is the departure of New Zealander Sio Mauganai to Harrogate.

With skipper and hooker Gordon Denslow only just returning from a hand injury, Heath use Bobby Skelton and Jason Evans in their front row for London One action tomorrow, along with experienced Richard Swain.

Coach Ian Davies said: "It's a major body blow to lose the two players. Good props are like gold dust.

"The cup game is a big one for us but so is the league match.

"I know from looking at their website that Albanian have targeted this as a game they can win. We're just hoping for a dry day."

Lock Charlie McGowan and wing Terry Butler are among the players back in contention for Worthing as they go to lowly Old Colfeians.

But flanker Jody Levett is still returning to full fitness almost a year after breaking his arm in a win at Sutton and Epsom.

Player/coach Jamie Stewart-

McDonald is telling his team mates to take charge early on against the division's bottom team.

He said: "It's up to how we start the game. As long as we front up for the first 20 minutes we will comfortably beat them."

Lewes look to build on a pre-Christmas run of seven points from four games as they fight against the drop in London Two South.
