Reading through this year's New Year's Honours list, I saw Bruce Forsyth has become a CBE.
I and many others believe he should have been given a knighthood for his good family entertainment shows on TV.
During the past four decades, he has always been well-mannered, and - for generations of mums, dads and children - his Saturday shows were great entertainment.
On the same awards list was TV cook Gordon Ramsay, who, no doubt, is an excellent cook but he has the habit of using childish bad language on his co-workers when he gets stressed.
When Ramsay collects his CBE, Her Majesty will doubtless say to him: "And what do you do, Mr Ramsay?"
To which Ramsay would reply: "I star in a show called The F Word Ma'am."
Her Majesty would reply in her charming manner: "How nice".
Like many others, I would like to congratulate Mr Forsyth on becoming a CBE, and perhaps hope for a higher honour for him in Her Majesty's coming 80th Birthday Honours list.
