At present, the Government Of Wales Bill is before parliament, which, if carried, will give the Welsh Assembly the same powers as the Scottish Parliament.

Meanwhile, the English people have nothing and it is the only country in the United Kingdom denied its own parliament.

The only consideration given to England of this sort was the Government's attempt to break up this country into "Euro regions".

Fortunately, this was rejected by the good people of the North-East.

Nevertheless, I'm sure John Prescott won't give up.

He has already raised the matter again and we already have regional planning committees and are pushing towards regional police forces.

What next, I wonder?

We also have the ludicrous situation where Scottish and Welsh MPs earn exactly the same as English MPs but only do half the work.

English MPs have to deal with both constitutional and United Kingdom matters but the others with only their local issues.
