Who is Mr Stevens of Rowlands Road, Worthing (The Argus, January 10)?
In his petition against the proposed Secret Desires sex shop, he states: "Sex shops are well known for drawing undesirables and soliciting by prostitutes into an area and it can also become a threat to women and children."
Where does he get this information from? I think the man still lives in the 19th Century.
I live in Brighton, where we have at least five sex shops, and they are set among the more mainstream stores we all use.
I see no "undesirables" - whoever they are - and, as for prostitutes soliciting, they don't solicit any more, Mr Stevens.
I can see why Worthing is still called "the place you go to die". The people there are living in the past, where sex was repressed.
I hope I never have to go to Worthing shopping. I am not a trendy teenager but someone who recently got my bus pass and I wish Kathleen Sutton, who is not opposed to the sex shop, all the luck with her endeavours.
