A Sussex web site has been named as one of the country's top performers.
East Sussex County Council's web site has been placed joint first out of the 34 county council web sites across the UK.
Its top-rated performance was confirmed in a recent report by the office of Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott.
Council Leader Peter Jones said the site was improving every year and growing in popularity.
He added: "The report confirms what we already know. Our site is one of the best local authority web sites in the country and I believe it's also on a par with many of the top private sector web sites."
Site visitors have doubled in recent years to more than 60,000 a month.
Located at www.eastsussex.gov.uk the site shared its position as number one for availability with Derbyshire, Dorset, Kent and Lincolnshire, following a three-week testing period.
