Daniel Hildreth today issued a cautious welcome to the possible arrival of Dennis Rodman at Genesis Brighton Bears.

The Bears squad are adopting a wait-and-see approach as their head coach Nick Nurse attempts to sign the Chicago Bulls great on a one-game deal.

Bears are working hard to clinch a British League play-off berth and face another busy weekend against Milton Keynes at the Triangle on Saturday and in a re-arranged game at Leicester on Sunday.

Hildreth, who doubles up as Bears' community coach, was the most forthcoming when asked his thoughts on the possible Rodman deal.

He said: "As a team, we haven't really been talking about it. We've got our own business to take care of.

"My personal opinion is that it would be fantastic for the fans, for the people who play alongside him and even for the guys who play against him. But, as nice as it would be, you wouldn't want it to turn into a show game.

"You wouldn't want him to turn up late, play his few minutes, sign some autographs and then go and we end up losing.

"I can only assume from the way he played in the NBA that he will be totally professional. He looks in good shape."

Team captain Andrew Alleyne admitted he was "sort of surprised" when he first heard Rodman could be coming to Brighton.

He said: "I'm in the dark like everybody. We're focussing on the job in hand and that's to win games "We don't have any control on who comes and who goes."

Terrance McGee added: "I'm not worried about it. I'm just trying to get some wins."

Rodman remains in the Big Brother house after surviving an eviction vote last night.
