Ross Minter could face former WBO world title challenger Takaloo when he makes the first defence of his English welterweight title on February 25 at the ExCel Arena, London.

The Crawley fighter is back in training after taking the vacant title in December when he beat Brett James inside four rounds but is sweating on an opponent.

Minter, 27, son of former undisputed world middleweight champion Alan, said: "There was a boxer to challenge me but the British Boxing Board of Control would not sanction the fight.

"He was 39 years old so it is not a surprise and I am looking for someone a bit higher than that at this stage.

"Now there is talk about Takaloo meeting me as he has come down to welterweight from light middle.

"I sparred with Takaloo before my last fight (against James) but he is a bit of an unknown quantity.

"There is also talk of an intercontinental title instead so that would mean a foreign opponent."
