Where does Adam Trimingham get the idea the Lib Dems are doing badly in local Government byelections (The Argus, January 11)?

True, since David Cameron became Tory leader, his party's share is up by just over five per cent but the Lib Dems have only gone down by 0.4 per cent, while Labour is down by 3.5 per cent.

Obviously, the Tories have received a temporary fillip from the publicity they attracted during their lengthy leadership election, when even an edition of BBC1's Question Time was turned into a Tory party political broadcast. Is the so-called Tory revival any more than media hype?

There is only one Parliamentary by-election pending, where the Tories are in fourth place and I doubt they will be celebrating when the result is announced.
