I was disappointed to read trades union Amicus is calling for nuclear power as the solution to our energy shortages (Letters, January 16).
It is completely irresponsible for it to put the burden of disposing of the toxic nuclear waste on future generations, when drastically increased energy-efficiency measures, plus more investment in solar, wind and wave power and biomass energy, could generate a sizeable proportion of our energy needs.
