I am in agreement with the comments of Alan Bond of the St James's Forum Action Group (The Argus, January 26).

I have worked with many LGBTs over the years, so I do not wish to be unfairly equated with bigotry. However, I am concerned about equalities and, from this standpoint, it appears unnecessary that St James's Street should be dolled up to specifically appeal to the LGBT community.

As a heterosexual person, I see no need to make a song and dance about it or decorate my street in a certain way. Thus, it is a little disappointing everyone's taxes should specifically finance LGBT taxpayers.

There is no need for LGBTs to seek preferential treatment they have the same human qualities as the rest of us.
