Disgruntled Albion striker Mark McCammon took to the airwaves for his own phone-in moan-in.

McCammon rang Ian Hart's BBC Southern Counties Radio show claiming that he had not been given enough opportunities by boss Mark McGhee to solve Albion's goalscoring problems.

He also questioned the quality of service for the front men and criticised the club's supporters, saying: "All we hear is whingeing."

McCammon's outburst came during Hart's popular phone-in which was broadcast live from Withdean after Tuesday's goalless draw against Burnley.

McCammon admitted that he has his "differences" with Mark McGhee.

The 27-year-old had a much publicised half-time bust-up with the Albion boss during last April's game against Burnley at Turf Moor.

"I'll be frank with you, myself and Mark McGhee have got differences at the moment," he said. "He asked me to go out on loan to a lower-league team and I think I'm better than that.

"I went on trial at Watford and I got called back to train last Friday for no apparent reason. I think I was hard done by there, a bit unlucky. I'm back but I'm not in the squad but I don't think I've been given a long enough chance."

McCammon was critical of Albion fans, urging them to be more supportive.

"We need them to get behind the team every time we play," he said. "All we hear is supporters whingeing. If they get behind the team it will give the players an extra boost.

"All the first team players at Brighton listen to the radio and they hear the supporters being 100 per cent negative.

"It's a team game, it's not about individuals. The supporters need to get behind the team a bit more.

"There needs to be a bit more atmosphere at Withdean. The game (against Burnley) was dull but when it's like that you need to get behind the team and urge them on instead of criticising.

"All I hear on the radio is fans criticising every single week and I'm just fed up with it."

McCammon, who has started just four games this season and scored once, asked Hart why he thought Albion were struggling to score goals.

He said: "Do you think they are getting service from midfield? How many crosses were put into the box today (against Burnley)? How many people were put through on goal?"

When Hart asked whether he was being critical of Albion's midfield McCammon responded: "I'm not criticising the midfield but as a unit do you think we are creating chances? It's a team game and everyone is in it together."

He rang in after Hart had said earlier in his show that, in his opinion, McCammon was not worth his place in the team.

McCammon responded: "When you kick a ball in professional football you can tell me whether I'm good enough for this standard. You don't know anything about me. What you said is very disrespectful.

"I've been out since the beginning of the season with ankle and knee injuries. I had surgery on both. I came back and made three first-team starts but it takes about seven or eight games to get your rhythm back. I think it's a bad comment you have made."

Hart, a former columnist for The Argus, said he was prepared to help a local charity if McCammon gets the goals which help keep Albion in the Championship.

He has pledged to pay £25 to the Chestnut Tree Hospice in Worthing for every goal McCammon scores at Championship level for the remainder of the season. And if he hasn't scored by the time Albion face Stoke in their final game on April 30, Hart says he will donate his fee for that week's broadcast to the hospice.

Hart said: "I must admit I was surprised when an Albion player rang the phone-in."
