I am writing in relation to the responses to Rebecca Mann's comments regarding student houses (Letters, January 12).
I am disgusted by the reply from Mike Stimpson (Letters, January 17).
It was incredibly childish behaviour on his part. It is true a lot of students are moving into accommodation which is just not safe.
From personal experience, the house I rented was a disgrace. There was a gas leak in the kitchen, the electric shower had water entering at the back of it and the boiler was not working.
I moved into a death trap when I had been told everything had been tested and all the appliances were safe.
A lot of students are unaware of safety issues when moving into new houses and this needs to be communicated to them.
I know for a fact I am not the only person who has suffered from lack of attention and I would like to thank Rebecca Mann for putting students' safety as priority.
The president's job is to look out for students and help them as much as possible and I back her all the way. Keep up the good work - I will be voting for you again next year, if you decide to run as president.
