With so much bitter controversy still surrounding the King Alfred development, with Frank Gehry having been recently called to a crucial meeting organised by English Heritage in London, with both Sir Richard Rogers and Jubilee Library executive architect Nick Lomax having voiced deep concern over the effect it will have on Hove - it would seem this is the ideal time to re-think the whole project and not let it proceed due to political inertia, only to be deeply regretted a few years down the line.

It would not be seen as cowardice for the council to admit it has made a mistake with the King Alfred and that because there are serious flaws in the project it wanted to rethink the scheme.

On the contrary, it would be seen as a very rare display of political courage and integrity.
