As a regular user of Coombes Road for several years, I have enjoyed watching four deer in a field every morning. As they have been there each year they are obviously not a problem to the farmer.
On Wednesday, January 25, my minibus was stopped by a sickening sight. I was horrified to see one of the deer being slaughtered on the edge of the road by two dogs, which I believe could have been lurchers.
I would love to see the deer return again but if the two men involved, who were obviously very pleased with their catch, are still around then I hope the deer will find a safer haven elsewhere.
