In reply to Verity Gold (Letters, January 23), I have never seen any football fans rampaging along London Road on their way to a match. All I see are happy families with their children dressed in the teams colour, enjoying an afternoon out - my husband, son-in-law and grandchildren among them.

I live near the Withdean ground and have never had any problems with the fans, quite the opposite, it's a pleasure to watch them.

I will miss them when they finally follow their team to Falmer.
