Perhaps Mr Booker (Letters, January 30) might be interested in the following. The Ordnance Survey map of Lewes dated 1899 shows the "Dripping Pan (cricket and football ground)" with four houses across the lane to the north, green fields to the east and south and the Mount (Calvary) to the west.

This means all the residents of Mountfield Road, two schools and a college were aware of the situation with respect to the existing football ground.

That is not the case for Falmer residents.

The development of the Lewes FC ground will be subject to the requirements of planning regulations laid down by the Government, so his comparison with the troubles of the Albion is hardly valid.
