Don't be fooled by his MC-like moniker: Jamie T is a tall, skinny lad from the southwest London suburb of Wimbledon, obsessed with The Clash, Tom Waits, Rancid and The Specials as much as he's influenced by the garage and drum 'n' bass raves he grew up with.

Armed with an acoustic bass guitar, 20-year-old Jamie has become a regular in the back rooms of pubs in Soho, Hounslow and Twickenham, playing his solo show of tales of suburbia and what it is to be a young English gent in 2006.

Loosely affiliated with the burgeoning West London scene, Jamie has played gigs with fellow suburbanites Larrikin Love, The Mystery Jets and Jeremy Warmsley. He's been a regular attendee and player on the Mystery Jets' now legendary Eel Pie Island gigs, which have drawn hundreds from all over London.

He's a troubadour spirit, rocking up in his battered Barbour jacket and bass, playing impromptu gigs all over the capital.

His Betty And Her Selfish Sons EP, released on Monday, is a collection of tracks Jamie has written and produced over the past few years.

From the acoustic drawl of Back In The Game to the midnight, disco anthem Salvador, these are tracks that owe as much to Billy Bragg or Shane McGowan as they do to B-boy culture.
