Before the new enforcement signs, at busier times of year, buses faced long delays in what should be a bus priority corridor. This contributed greatly to serious disruption to bus services, and long waits at bus stops.
Part of the remarkable rise in bus usage over the past 12 years has been the number of motorists using the bus services to get into Brighton.
If these passengers were put off using buses because of their unreliability, this would greatly increase the city's congestion problems (so all motorists would suffer).
While the enforcement signs have greatly reduced illegal ingress, they need to be backed up by legal enforcement.
If motorists have issues with the parking enforcement, they should question that, not attack one of the most useful council transport proposals in years.
