Simon Boyd seems pre-occupied with the language used when a crime is in the past.
I suggest the term "common sense" should be applied to this subject. To compare the crime of a 15-yearold stealing a magazine or the actions of a person who chooses to fill their own lungs with smoke to a man who commits the violent, considered and lifewrecking offence of rape is ridiculous.
I fail to see how people cannot continue to consider and remember the crimes that Tyson committed, whether he has served his time or not.
I believe a person capable of murder or rape deserves to retain the title of "rapist" or "murderer" for the rest of their lives because the people whom the crimes were committed against will never lose the title of "victim".
Be realistic, Simon - have you ever heard the term "ex-victim"?
