Vehicle users continue to flout traffic laws but, from what I have observed, the authorities paid to enforce these laws don't do a lot about them.

Wherever one goes in the city, vehicles are doubleparked or parked on double yellow lines, cyclists ride on pavements and, only yesterday afternoon, I observed a male cyclist with a child on a rear carrier cycling the wrong way down St James's Street, putting two lives at risk - remonstrate at your peril.

There is an issue of personal responsibility here and it is up to individual vehicle users, including cyclists, to take responsibility for their actions.

Most don't bother because they know no action will be taken.
