Mr Beck of Lewes says he cannot see where the jobs would be created in a new, permanent, all-seated stadium with executive boxes (Letters, February 24).
Firstly, it is a community stadium, which means the facilities will be available to the local community seven days a week.
This means an infrastructure requirement for permanent staff - Mr Beck lives in the rich town of Lewes whereas the estate of Moulsecoomb, which is next door to the proposed stadium, will benefit from these extra job opportunities:
1 Football - professional or educational;
2 Administration staff - ticketing etc;
3 Catering;
4 Commercial sponsorship, etc;
5 Other events beside football outside concerts, etc;
6 Ground staff;
7 Conference facilities;
8 Laundering facilities;
9 Executive boxes;
10 Daily visits - it will be a tourist attraction etc.
This is only a selection of the jobs that will be created in this new community stadium.
Some of these exist in a limited way at the temporary football stadium at Withdean but that was built for athletics and will return to this use when the new stadium is built.
-James Greed, Moulsecoomb, Brighton
