I would like to clarify some points in the article "Arrest threat over toddlers' saucy T-shirts" (The Argus March 8).
A police community support officer visited the shop in December 2005 and again in January 2006 after I received a letter of complaint from a member of public who was upset by some of the slogans displayed in the shop window.
The officer spoke to the staff at Ju-Ju, Gloucester Road, Brighton, and advised them to display some of the more controversial items within the store or cover offending words in order to prevent further complaints.
There was one extremely offensive slogan on a child's T-shirt which caused distress to the member of public who was with his children.
The wording is not repeatable and certainly is not reflected in the Argus article.
There is a huge difference between "saucy" slogans and offensive slogans.
