Regarding the waste tranfer station proposals, Brighton and Hove City Council is now proposing to remove a ban on HGVs turning left from Ditchling Road into Upper Hollingdean Road south of the FiveWays junction.
This junction is directly opposite Downs Junior School and adjacent to Downs Infant School, a crossing used by hundreds of children aged four-11 every day.
This proposal is grossly irresponsible and completely disregards the safety of children crossing there, particularly as these HGVs introduce the highest concentrations of lethal carcinogens into the air.
So where are the education leaders and educationalists in our city when they are really needed?
And why are they not jumping to the defence of our children against the council?
