Brighton's hip-hop scene is flourishing and the Brighton Hip-Hop Festival has been extended this year, to run from March until August.

Its launch will comprise an afternoon of workshops and performances, showcasing the best of the local scene.

The programme includes: Breakdance, MCing, DJing and street art workshops (noon-4pm), film screenings from Freshstyles (noon-4pm), a presentation about this years festival (4.30pm), MC poetry from DeeJay (4.30pm) and a performance by Rumble (4.45pm).

This years festival will include a celebration of the art of hip-hop at the University of Brighton and will culminate in a live showcase on Brighton beach.

Adding his support this year is DJ Norman Cook, who says: "The Brighton Hip-Hop Festival is a fantastic initiative. It brings together all thats great about hip-hop and provides inspiration for the local community. This year will be better than ever. Bring it on."
