Police hunting the killer of "lady in the lake" murder victim Kamila Garsztka believe Brighton holds the key to her death.

Detectives visited the city yesterday in a bid to find clues to her murder in the last journey she made before she died.

Kamila, 26, from Poland, took a day trip to Brighton on December 12 last year.

Police believe she was killed less than 24 hours later and her body dumped in Priory Lake, Bedford.

Detective Chief Inspector John Giles of Bedfordshire Police, leading the investigation, told The Argus: "We're looking for a reasonable motive for her murder."

Kamila, 26, a qualified accountant, had been living in Bedford for 18 months with her brother and other friends. She was in England for employment and to improve her English.

She told no one why she came to Brighton.

Further mystery surrounds the trip as she only bought a single train ticket from Bedford. She had to upgrade it to get home.

DCI Giles said: "She may have purchased the single ticket by mistake, or she may have intended to meet somebody here and stay."

She arrived in Brighton at 3pm and made several calls on her mobile phone.

CCTV cameras at the station captured Kamila about to board the train home at 10pm. She arrived at midnight and stayed in her boyfriend's flat.

He left her there the next morning when he went to work. When he returned at 11.45pm she had gone, leaving behind her bag, mobile phone and bank card.

She was reported missing, but her body was not found until January 24.

Police believe she was dead by 9pm on December 13. A man has been arrested in connection with her death and bailed until April, but police say the investigation is far from over.

DCI Giles said: "People may think what they have seen is unimportant but it is very important to us."

Fourteen Bedfordshire officers are in Brighton again today looking for anyone who may have seen Kamila on December 12.

She was white, 160cm tall, with blue eyes and shoulder length dark blonde hair in a ponytail. In Brighton she wore a long brown coat, blue jeans, black Adidas trainers and a large shoulder bag.
