Paul Reid has set his sights on a place back in the Albion squad for Saturday's must-win visit to Millwall.

Reid did not even make it on to the bench for last Saturday's 1-1 home draw against Luton.

He forced his way back into manager Mark McGhee's thinking with two goals for the Reserves in a 4-0 victory at Gillingham on Monday.

The adaptable Australian admitted: "Gillingham's team wasn't the strongest but it's always nice to get a good 90 minutes under your belt and to score two goals was very pleasing. Hopefully that can stand me in good stead.

"We've got six games left and I'd love to get back into the team. It's always difficult when you are not playing and you are never happy when you aren't even on the bench.

"I'm hoping to at least get on the bench for the weekend now. If not I've just got to keep slogging away and hopefully it will come sooner rather than later."

Millwall, four points better off than the Seagulls and five adrift of safety, are treating the match as their most important of the season.

Albion manager Mark McGhee, who has contacts at his old club, revealed: "I know they are in an hotel on Friday night. They are taking the game really seriously.

"Their thinking is if they beat us that we will then at least draw at home to Sheffield Wednesday, allowing them to make up ground.

"It's a massively difficult game for both us and Millwall, but a game that which ever one wins has a helluva chance of staying up."
