I am not surprised Waitrose refuses to have a cat food collection box in its Lewes store (Letters, March 16).
Defending to me the decision not to display a bus map at the East Grinstead branch, the customer services department manager at Waitrose's headquarters wrote: "Because we prefer to keep an open, uncluttered appearance in our shops and because of the many requests we receive to display posters and information, it is our usual policy to decline to do so".
