I wish to share an experience with you over my recent gas bill.
For the past four quarters I have been in credit, on one occasion by more than £80. A bill arrived today, informing me my direct debit payment was to be increased from £15 per month to £55.
I was shocked, as I have had a credit balance for the past 15 months.
After querying this ridiculous request, I was told my most recent bill (as it was the coldest quarter) would take several months to pay off at £15.
So, all the time I am in credit with them, I am a good customer but when the tables turn and I use more gas than usual in a quarter, I am unreasonable.
I refuse to increase my direct debit and will pay my bill by cheque when it arrives. I urge other customers to consider scrapping direct debit payments until the supplier can play a fair game.
