The Rev John Webster agrees there is no theological reason why Easter should not be on a fixed date (Letters, April 6).
He points out this would avoid the dislocation of school terms that occurs under the present system.
Furthermore, it would be enjoyable to have milder weather for the first holiday of the year.
However, despite a diligent search of the scriptures I can find no indication that Christ timed his resurrection to fit in with the school holidays or the possibility of good weather.
No doubt rationality will prevail eventually and a fixed day for Easter will be agreed.
I suggest an appropriate date would be the first Sunday after All Fools' Day.
Just a thought.
