In response to Michael Parker (Letters, April 5), there have indeed been many beautiful songs inspired by canvas artists.
But with Nat King Cole's Mona Lisa and Don McLean's Vincent in mind, we must not forget the lovely words of Portrait Of My Love - "...it would take I know a Michelangelo and he would need the glow of dawn that paints the sky above to try and paint a portrait of my love."
A great song - and it also launched Matt Monro's career as a national and international singer.
