Hollingdean is a designated Sure Start area in Brighton and is supposed to give our children the best possible start in life.
How on Earth is this possible when Brighton and Hove City Council are considering the revised plans for the waste transfer station?
I understand waste needs to be managed but should this be at the sacrifice of our children's health?
The proposals admit the social and environmental impact of the site will be significant. All this in a Sure Start area.
An alternative site at Hangleton Bottom has been identified, which would be preferable as it is not on anyone's doorstep.
However, I really think we should join together to force Brighton and Hove City Council and residents to address the issue of over-packaging and reducing waste at source.
With Easter upon us, I'd urge people to rethink their lives and reduce waste by not buying over-packaged chocolate eggs. After all, we are supposed to be looking after this planet for the next generation.
