Although, generally, our councillors do an excellent job, I agree with The Argus (March 22): "Do we want to be represented solely by the rich or the retired with plenty of time on their hands? The answer has to be no."

This is why I am one of the prospective candidates for Brunswick and Adelaide Ward in the local elections in 2007.

The average age of city residents is 38, which is my age, and as a working mum who is active in Brighton and Hove, I can represent the views of people like me.
