I was most interested to read the article about John Radford and his feelings about the departure of four very popular presenters from Southern Counties Radio.

Apart from making a few clever asides, which other presenters also did, all four presenters involved were very professional but made it clear that it was not their decision to move on.

John is quite correct that loyal radio listeners have a very personal bond with their favourite radio presenters and so many changes have been very difficult for most of us to accept.

If they had been good changes that would have been one thing but the presentation is now extremely poor.

I know it is early days but after the quality of presenters we have lost it is very difficult to accept that the new format is improved in any way whatsoever.

When we first listened to the presenters who we have recently lost there was something which attracted us to them. But there is nothing of interest for me in the new presenters and I imagine that many other listeners feel the same way, judging by people I speak to and comments on the message boards.

I have met two elderly people who are distraught about the changes.

I used to like Neil but he is not a good presenter and, after having emailed him for ages telling him how good his presenters were, including Tommy Boyd, I cannot forgive him for not listening to the many protests and carrying out the axeing.

We have had four real characters wrenched away from us.
