Emily Bronte's Wuthering Heights is one of the greatest love stories ever written.

The smouldering passion between Heathcliff and Catherine Earnshaw grips the imagination and every adolescent schoolgirl falls in love with the charismatic hero.

Although Barny Clevely is a competent actor, I think he is miscast as Heathcliff and Robert Beck, who plays Hindley Earnshaw, would have been a better choice.

This is an extraordinary adaptation by John Davidson as it leaves chunks of the story out, including one of the most poignant moments Cathy's deathbed scene. Instead she dies, unseen, before the interval and does not appear again.

Michelle Hardwick, who is excellent in the role, does get the chance to reappear as her daughter in Act Three but I felt there was something missing and too much is crammed into one evening.
