Rana Naved will go straight back into the Sussex team when he returns to Hove this weekend.

The 28-year-old is due back on Sunday and cricket manager Mark Robinson confirmed today that he will play in next week's Championship game against Hampshire at the Rose Bowl.

Sussex are hoping Rana makes the same impact as last season when he took 54 wickets in nine games after joining the county for the second half of the summer.

He is due to link up with the Pakistan squad for their tour of England in June but should be available for the next seven Championship matches.

With James Kirtley still working on his re-modelled action, Sussex desperately need some more bowling firepower.

Robinson said: "Rana is a quality performer at the highest level as we saw last season so we are going to miss him.

"He's been in Dubai this week for a couple of one-dayers against India but we are expecting him on Sunday and I'm sure he will be fine for next week."

At Hove yesterday Warwickshire finished the second day on 308-5 in response to Sussex's first innings 302 thanks mainly to 109 from Jonathan Trott.
