Captain Danny Brown says Crawley's players deserve the sack if they lose their last three games.

Reds play high-flying Halifax at Broadfield Stadium tomorrow, then travel to Exeter on Tuesday before finishing their campaign at Tamworth next Saturday.

Reds have nothing to play for, despite a season-long battle against relegation, after making sure of their Conference status on Monday, despite losing 2-1 at Stevenage.

They pulled clear of the drop zone with a seven game unbeaten run. The revival began after club owners the SA Group controversially slashed player wages in half.

Brown insists Crawley must end the season on a high to prove the resurgence was not the result of pay cuts.

He said: "We cannot lose the last three games. It will look like we didn't get paid, everyone stepped into gear, we got safe and then everyone got lax again. If that is the case then sack the lot of us.

"It will not be good enough and I don't want to see it. I want to see us go out on Saturday and win.

"I'm fed up with people saying we're safe. I've heard it everywhere but this is not the end of it. We should not even be thinking about it.

"It is not about being safe or not, it is about winning and keep winning.

"I want us to finish in mid-table and make up for us being so poor all year."

Brown insists Crawley's injury problems are no excuse for letting their good form slip.

Reds could not fill the bench at Stevenage when five players were ruled out, while strikers Danny Ekoku and Steve Burton played while half fit.

Manager John Hollins has been forced to recall Rob Kember from a loan spell at Lewes and play teenagers Scott Marshall and Michael Bostwick to fill the gaps.

Brown said: "It would be a shambles to call it a football squad at the moment.

"We have literally struggled to put out a five-a-side team because we haven't got enough players.

"It has been make-shift in all departments but we can't make excuses because I still think the side that started at Stevenage could have got a result.

"We competed with them and there is no reason why we can't win on Saturday.

"We have managed to turn things around by digging in and we will have to do that again."

Crawley's injury list shows little sign of improving.

Paul Armstrong (back), Tony Scully, Chris Giles and Omari Coleman (all hamstrings) are doubtful.

Gavin Gordon could make his first start for seven games after recovering from a thigh strain at the expense of Danny Ekoku, who has been struggling with asthma.

Halifax have lost once in their last ten league games and could guarantee a playoff place with victory.

Boss Chris Wilder, a former Albion defender, said: "Getting four points last weekend is a great return but we have to get back to work and make sure we finish the job. The desire in the changing room is there and I am sure we will finish it off."
