There have been numerous reported sightings lately of urban foxes hunting after dark in this area. I saw a fox crossing Salisbury Road in front of me and my son one evening recently and my son-in-law was approached by a fox when fishing from Hove beach.

I heard recently of a man, employed to clear away some undergrowth, who discovered a fox den with the remains of up to 20 cats.

I have seen many notices regarding lost pet cats and had one put through my letter box yesterday.

There must be any number of places foxes can make dens and hide until nightfall before going hunting.

As foxes and cats (predator and prey) are nocturnal and prowl shared territory, it might be a good idea if cat lovers kept their pets in after dark to safeguard their lives, and relieve their owners and families of heartache and grief in the case of loss.
