Although the Labour manifesto promised any new ID card scheme would be voluntary, it now appears we are all going to have our details entered on to a massive database when we get a new passport.

I'd rather not be charged at least £93 for the privilege of having the government stick their nose into every aspect of my life.

For people like myself who have "nothing to hide" but instead value their right to privacy, there is a website which explains why May is the best time to renew our existing passports. Visit www.renewforfreedom.org
