It may have been a bizarre homage to the start of Brighton Festival, but the joke was not allowed to last too long.

The phallic artwork created by cheeky artists, who gave the corner column of a private girls school a new look, has had yet another paint job.

Passers-by were bemused by the colourful pillar outside Brighton and Hove High Schools senior department on the corner of Temple Gardens and Montpelier Road, Brighton, when it suddenly appeared on Saturday night.

Most saw the funny side, although police warned the culprits risked fines from £80 to thousands of pounds.
