The Royal Pavilion's ornate music room provides a dramatic setting for the Festival's programme of recitals.

Each concert pairs one of the world's leading string ensembles with a soloist of international renown, plus, in recognition of the wealth of local composing talent, each concert will feature a world premiere of new work specially commissioned by Brighton Festival by one of city's composers.

The Emperor Quartet are paired with pianist Leon McCawley, who will perform a new piece by Brighton composer Alison Kay, a Professor of Composition at the Royal College of Music.

Opera and dance-score writer Michael Finnissy has composed a piece for the energetic Dante Quartet with tenor Robert Murray, while Martin Butler's piece is performed by a string quartet famous for their collaborations with artists such as Elvis Costello and Bjrk, the Brodsky Quartet. The Brodskys are joined by John Metcalfe, the violist who has worked with Blur, Morrissey and The Pretenders.

Concerts start at 8pm. Tickets: £27.50.
