A public golf course could undergo a multi-million pound transformation.
Plans to revitalise Benfield Valley Golf Course in Hove have been submitted to Brighton and Hove City Council and will be considered by the planning committee in the coming months.
The proposals include the restoration of a Grade-II listed barn and outbuildings to create a cafe and restaurant, wedding venue, exhibition space and overnight accommodation with on-site parking.
Directors of the club, Lawrence, Paul and Dominic Boon, Mark Harper and Laxley Pennant, are also hoping to get the go-ahead for a covered driving range, all-weather sports pitches and tennis courts, a new reception area, shop, changing rooms, bar, gym and training pool.
The five took over the club's lease about a year-and-a-half ago and have spent £150,000 on improving the greens and the tees.
The previous leaseholders had been threatened with repossession by the council because the site had been neglected.
The new sports pitches would be made available to Hove Park and other local schools during off-peak times and subsidised golf lessons offered to all pupils.
Mr Pennant said: "This is something which is going to benefit the community and the schools. We want to provide more sports facilities for the children and help regenerate the area."
