Howe Gelb, front man of Giant Sand has been ploughing his unique furrow for almost two decades.
For his latest album, Sno Angel Like You, he blends his Lou Reed meets Neil Young desert drawl with the gospel harmonies of the Voices of Praise Choir.
Gelb is joined by husband and wife duo Handsome Family, whose leftfield take on alt country noir owes as much to Edgar Allen Poe as Johnny Cash.
