I was pleased to see boards with murals on them being put up at the former hardware shop next to the Jobcentre in Newhaven last week.
I discovered these were painted by local school children. Apparently, more will be sited at the old local Post Office opposite in the future.
As an artist, I was pleased to see time and money being spent not only on brightening up our town centre but also encouraging local school children's abilities. I am sure there will be locals who regard this as a "waste of taxpayer's money" and/or expect them to be vandalised, as were the recently-planted trees .
However, all efforts should be recognised and applauded and I hope you will pass on my congratulations and best wishes to all those involved.
