A bar manager who was found dead in a Barcelona hotel room may have died of an overdose.

Last night, Spanish Police said 29-year-old Bianca Heard, manager of Brighton Rocks in Rock Place, Kemp Town, could have died as a result of a mixture of drugs in the early hours of Sunday.

She was discovered by her best friend and boss, Mark Whiting, who was on his way to start a new life in Palma.

Miss Heard was due to return to Brighton today.

Sergeant Isidora Barbero said: "The only thing we can say for certain is that Miss Heard did not have a violent death.

"She may suffered some form of overdose but until we get the results of the post-mortem we would not be able to say which drug or which mixture of drugs may have led to her death."

Police want to hear from a man who they believe left a nightclub in the Catalan capital with Miss Heard.

Mr Whiting said: "She was my best friend. We went out and the last time I saw her she was happy and smiling.

"I went into her bedroom in the morning and she was dead."

Friends continued to pay tribute to Miss Heard, an Australian who moved to Brighton four years ago, and lay flowers outside the bar.

Neil Parker, 34, head chef at Brighton Rocks, said: "She was just fantastic. She had so much charisma.

"She was courageous and caring and just a big ball of laughter."
