With regard to John Gammon's comment on my piece about George Sanders (Letters, May 12), I could write at least half a page on any of my subjects if I was allowed the space and I am sure I did mention George Sanders was educated at Bedales and Brighton College. Perhaps it was lost in sub-editing.

However, if Brighton College was not mentioned, be patient, it will be in a forthcoming letter about Tom Conway (George's older brother) who was also educated at Brighton College.

Most of my knowledge is off the top of my head, plus a notebook of my father's, who worked in Hollywood from 1936 until 1942. I don't use reference books. At 77 years of age, I have seen as many old Hollywood movies as most and have more than 3,000 on tape.

But never mind about me missing bits out, what about the little-known facts I put in. For instance, while Mr Gammon mentions George Sanders's suicide note, which is widely known, he omits George's note to his sister Margaret, which reads "Dearest Margoolinka, The inevitable. Don't be sad. I have only anticipated it by a few years". George.

Mr Gammon also mentions he saw a poor film called Cairo (1963) with George Sanders. I suggest he watches the Robert Young and Jeanette MacDonald version (MGM 1941). There is some fine singing by Ethel Waters.
